My Smugglers' Cove painting was accepted into the 70th Anniversary Show of the Federation of Canadian Artists, at the Federation Gallery, 1241 Cartwright Street on Granville Island. It opens on Tuesday, Oct 25, but the opening reception is Thursday, Oct 27, 6-8pm.
Two other paintings, shown above, have been accepted into the subsequent show that starts November 15. The show is called Small, Smaller, Smallest, and there should be lots of temptations for Christmas shoppers there! These two are called High'n Dry on the Coast, and Treasure Hunt.
They say one needs 10,000 hours of practice to become proficient at anything. I'm getting closer at about 9,000 but don't feel very proficient yet! This blog will hopefully document progress and the fun of the journey.

Painting in Desolation Sound with Robert Genn
Last week I joined a small group of lucky painters on the Columbia III for a 4 day trip in Desolation Sound. We painted on shore in nice weather and on the aft deck when it rained. It was an awesome experience, but the many paintings I started need to be finished in the studio, so they won't be posted for a few days. Here's a photo of us ready to disembark.. (I was so focused on painting I forgot to take photos of us painting!)
We saw orcas up close, porpoises played under our bow and the scenery was majestic with very few other boats around. Robert was an inspiring teacher too!
